Planning Your New Puppy’s Homecoming
As a Shih Tzu Breeder I discuss bringing a new puppy home a lot so that is where I will begin for now! (I will discuss finding a breeder and a new puppy in a future article.) View my web site at www.BoardingnBreeding.com
We should start with the following list – try to have these items before your puppy comes home!
List of supplies to get you started!
There is no specific order here – you will need everything listed and more…..this is just a starting point.
- Food & Water Bowl (or consider a water bottle or a fountain)
- Collar, Leash & ID Tags (use your cell phone #)
- Pick a Vet
- Crate & a few Towels
- Book (puppy or breed specific)
- Healthy Toys, Bones & Treats
- Grooming Supplies
- Brush, Comb
- Shampoo
- Nail Clippers
- septic powder
- small-med blunt end scissors (size depends on the breed of dog)
- Clippers – large, small or both – depends on breed
Items you CAN’T find at the pet store (but you MUST to have):
Time, Money, Patients and ….lots of TLC
This is just a quick overview. Please feel free to comment or ask a question.
I will expand on each item (& probably add a few things) and talk about some products available along with some of their pros and cons, at a later date.
Up next…….house breaking and potty training tips
